THE PATH FROM THE DOOR MATTERS
The driveway is only part of the way out.
Front steps, side paths and landings can need a different approach from a driveway. We are planning winter services around the specific areas a household needs to use.
Winter route planning. Equipment, coverage, scope and service terms must be confirmed before bookings open.
Map the walking route.
Show the path from the door to the driveway, any side entrance and any other access point you want assessed. A future agreement needs named surfaces and boundaries, not just “the walkway.”
- Path lengths and approximate widths.
- Steps, landings, ramps and handrails.
- Gate openings, narrow passages and changes in surface.
- Areas where snow may be placed without blocking another route.
Surface and access change the method.
Wood steps, pavers, concrete, gravel and narrow gates may call for different tools. Tell us about loose surfaces, existing damage, decorative edges and limited lighting. Equipment suitability must be confirmed for the property; we do not assume a machine fits every path.
Set the visit expectations.
Discuss what amount of snowfall starts service, whether long storms need multiple visits, and whether repeat visits after drifting or road-plow activity are included. If an area is essential for access at a specific time, raise that before considering an agreement.
Clearing and ice treatment are different tasks.
Shoveling removes snow from the agreed area; it does not guarantee a bare, dry or ice-free surface. Meltwater, shade and refreezing can change conditions later. Any treatment material, application area and repeat visit must be agreed separately.
Fair questions.
Can I ask for steps and walkways without a driveway?
Yes, you can describe that need for route assessment. Whether a standalone visit is offered will depend on the confirmed winter route and scope.
Will you clear a roof or ice dam?
Roof snow, roof access and ice-dam work are outside this planned ground-level service.
Can you promise access by a certain hour?
No timing promise is made here. Essential timing needs must be assessed against a confirmed service window before an agreement.
Is salting included?
Do not assume so. Ice treatment, materials and application frequency must be listed separately.
