TEMPLETON, MASSACHUSETTSTWO GOOD FRIENDS. ONE VERY GOOD TRUCK.

SPACE FOR WHAT COMES NEXT

A big cleanout. A sensible plan.

A cleanout is as much about decisions as it is about lifting. Mark what stays, identify who can approve removal and give the crew a clear picture of the space.

Choose the right cleanout.

Different spaces create different jobs. A garage needs sorting around tools and chemicals; a basement needs an access plan; an estate needs authority and time for decisions.

The three-zone method.

Set aside keeps, undecided items and approved removals. Labels and clear boundaries prevent a rushed decision. Choose one person who can approve the item list and answer questions during the job.

  • Keep personal papers, photographs and valuables separate.
  • Mark shelves and fixtures that remain.
  • Do not mix chemicals or unidentified material into the removal zone.

Plan the route through the property.

Photograph doors, stairs, exterior steps and the truck loading area. Include outbuildings and every room in the proposed scope. Large jobs may need a walkthrough, multiple loads or staged work. The final plan should reflect that, rather than promising an arbitrary completion time.

Make the finish line specific.

A quote should describe which items and areas are being cleared. Removal is separate from deep cleaning, pest treatment, building repairs, demolition and storage. Agree on any extra task explicitly before work starts.

Make a little space before making a lot.

You do not need to solve the entire cleanout before asking for a plan. A clearly bounded first area can be a useful start. We review a staged job on its own scope, access and trip requirements.

Fair questions.

Can you help when I do not know where to start?

Start with wide room photos and identify the things you know must stay. We can discuss a clear first scope without treating every item as approved for removal.

Do you handle hazardous or heavily contaminated spaces?

Those are outside the ordinary cleanout. Describe known issues before a visit so the job can be assessed appropriately.

Can a cleanout be split into stages?

Ask for the rooms or areas you want to address first. Scheduling, access and separate trip costs are confirmed in the plan.

Will you take away attached cabinets or fixtures?

Not automatically. Demolition and utility disconnection are different work from removing ordinary loose contents.
